Disney Springs to replace Downtown Disney

The much tinkered with Downtown Disney has seen expansions (West Side), closures (Virgin Store), changes of direction (killed the nightclubs), half completed projects (Hyperion Wharf), but now at long last, Disney seem to be committing themselves big style.

Work commenced in April of 2013 to create a vast 1900s style Disney Springs retail and entertainment centre like no other in Orlando.

The scale is huge and will eventually create over 4000 permanent jobs when completed in 2016.  In the meantime, most of the existing stores, restaurants and highlights will remain as the imagineers construct the bulk of the development around the car park 3 area of Downtown Disney.

No date for the name change has yet been set, but we will keep you posted!!
